It’s Easy Because It’s Your Destiny

I started my own social media consulting company in 2010 and it’s honestly been an amazing ride so far. Lately though, I’ve been in a bit of a panic over the ease of it all. After two years of setting up systems and processes, managing client relationships, bringing on a part-time employee and building my reputation, I feel like a lot of the “struggle” part of this is over. Which makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong or not doing as much as I should be…

So naturally I went to the French Quarter to get my Tarot Cards read to see if I could make sense of what my next steps should be. Surely this lackluster feeling means that I should be changing paths in some way.

My card reader, Reina, had me choose 10 cards, then 7 and 5 and read them as if she was telling a story. I didn’t ask any questions or volunteer any information. She asked me what I was in school for and I told her that I wasn’t a student. Then she asked if I’d just broken up with my boyfriend and I told her that I don’t date boys but that I had just broken up with my girlfriend. Then, just when I was pretty sure that she wasn’t very good at this and wasn’t going to tell me anything useful, she flipped the last card.

“It’s supposed to be easy,” she said, looking at me knowingly.

“What is?” I asked.

“Your destiny. It’s easy because that’s what you’re supposed to be doing. When you feel like you’re running into a wall, THAT’s when you change directions. But you’re on the right path. Relax and enjoy it. It’s easy because you’ve already worked so hard and because it is right.”

LIFE CLEANSE, much needed

For the past 4 weeks I have been participating in a life cleanse. A Lela Cloud Life Cleanse, to be exact. I won said experience at a raffle from a Yoga Lagniappe event that I attended a couple of months ago and got started right after Mardi Gras.

My goals:
– Lose 10 lbs (everyone rolls their eyes at this because I’m not a large girl but I WAS gaining a lot of weight)
– Eat healthier (and learn to maintain it)
– Make time in my life to do more of what I love and spend less time being stressed and frustrated

What I didn’t realize was that the “space clearing” element of the cleanse wasn’t just physical. Lela helped me rework and reorganize my calendar, create routines, schedule “me” time etc. The result: for the past month I’ve worked less, somehow gotten more done, stressed less and taken lots of time to do things that I enjoy – getting my nails done, going to the park, planting in my garden…

I’m now entering the last few days of the cleanse and have felt better than ever. Granted, I wasn’t starting from zero. I’ve been seeing an Ayurveda specialist for a while now for anxiety and some other health issues, but this all or nothing cleanse really gave me the discipline and skills to kick it up a notch.

Honestly, I think the biggest factor affecting me being more productive and less stressed is that I stopped drinking coffee. My energy is even throughout the day instead of spiking up and down, I’m more patient with my clients and I even get more work done. I’ve stopped being nervous and frantic in the mornings and am sleeping better at night. No coffee addict wants to hear that…I know I didn’t. But hey, once you break a habbit you’re pretty much good to go. I’ve replaced coffee with fresh juice every morning (you can check out some of my favorite combinations here) and don’t think I’ll ever go back!
